ABOUT

I am a photographer. I have been a photographer all of my life: my father was a photographer. I largely participate in events by documenting the interactions people encounter in the course of the day.I observe. I analyze.

I absolutely believe in the decisive moment. The first time I picked up a shotgun to skeet shoot, I hit 11 of the 12 clay discs. I explained to the instructor that I am constantly aiming; guessing what will come next and where, only I used a Nikon fm with Tri-X pan film I rated at 200.

I worked as a black and white printer in New York City fresh out of college. My boss, Gary Schneider, believed that if we were going to be in the dark all day, we should be printing images that inspire. We printed for photographers who shot work that would go to museums, galleries and/or major publications. This work taught me my beliefs of journalism. Each subject is unique and deserves to be presented based on their individuality. My style should enhance their traits, not call complete attention to mine.
